Now the evenings are getting lighter and warmer, there are more young people out on Friday nights, and witnessing is easier. Last night I spent the evening with a group of lads at the skateboard park. We spent a while chatting about their skateboards and then shared the Law and the Gospel with them.
They were so interested and hung on our every word. They have been so let down by so called Christians who say that Christianity is all about love and forgiveness without showing them the Law and how it affects them, and it has confused them. They think they’re all right and going to heaven and don’t even have a concern about the fact that they may be going to hell.
They all took million pound note tracts, apart from one who really didn’t want it. We were also able to leave 4 of them with the ‘Finding God’s Way’ books and hope to meet up again in the future.
Sometimes it gets really hard talking with people in a group. You can be talking with one and they begin to get convicted of their sin then suddenly another one will come up with a question and distract and stall the flow. It’s very hard to say, “Yes that’s a great question, but I’ll get to it in a moment.” and then try and get back to the first person. The moment is lost and it is hard to get back to the conscience rather than being side tracked into the intellect.
The hardest people I have found so far to witness to are those who have had some kind of contact with Sunday School while younger. They seem to be inoculated from the gospel as they have a ‘tried that and it didn’t work’ kind of attitude. It’s good to try and answer their questions, but again you begin to argue in the intellect. Once you answer one argument they have another, and another.
We can’t tell what is going on inside their heart. We are not commanded to save souls we are just commanded to preach the gospel. Saving is God’s part. So don’t be discouraged. Get out there, preach, and someone will hear.
Hey, and check this pic out all you WOTM fans!! (By the way. I didn’t do it!!)
Have a great day,
