February 2009 and we have snow! They say it is the most snow the UK has had for 18 years which means it’s the first real snow I’ve seen.
Snow is Fun.
Today we all went into the garden, lit a camp fire to warm up on, then made big snowballs that we rolled around the garden to collect more snow. We then cut them up into bricks to make an igloo. When we get snow in the UK we have to play quickly and have as much fun as we can before it melts into a muddy mush.
Snow is Beautiful.
Only God could make something so beautiful. How amazing that when water freezes it turns white and covers our land with a fresh clean look. The white sheep, that looked so clean against the green hills, now look so dirty against the snow. We look so clean when compared to a murderer or robber, yet compared to God’s standards we are dirty. The Bible talks about our sin as being as red as scarlet, yet God will make us as white as snow if we repent of our sin and ask him to forgive us. (…though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow… Isaiah 1 v 18)
As each snow flake landed on my coat I could see all the different shapes and sizes. Each one was individual and was beautiful!!! 
Snow is Amazing!
Water is the only substance that expands when frozen and becomes less dense as a solid than as a liquid, therefore the ice floats. How amazing! If ice sunk the lakes and rivers would freeze from the bottom up and the fish freeze into a block of ice and die. Instead the ice floats and the fish can survive, protected in the winter months, under the layer of ice.
I had a great time today. Tomorrow it will probably all go and the mud will be back!
