Most of my Summer 2008 was spent filming with Special Edition Films, or tidying up the house ready to film. It was great fun and was a really amazing experience. For a one hour Documentary they took around 100 hours of film.
Meet The Crew
Linda, the Director, was very patient with me and has a really cute dog. Nick, the soundman, was great fun and easy to get on with; Malcolm, the cameraman, was funny and took some really great shots; and Morgana, the assistant director, was really lovely, became a good friend, and was brilliant at her job.
Long Days
The days were long and very tiring. Some days they would all arrive before we were even up and others they wouldn’t leave until after I was in bed. They followed me around and Linda sometimes asked some difficult questions that weren’t easy to answer. The human mind is an incredible organ. It starts working before you are born and never stops…………until there is a film camera pointing at you!!! :P

What you don’t know about this picture is that during this interview every 5 minutes or so an aeroplane would fly overhead and we would have to stop and wait till it was out of ear shot to begin again. When there wasn’t a noisy aeroplane the tape would run out, stalling procedures again, then out of the corner of my eye I could see Morgana sitting on the grass, flapping her clipboard, keeping the chickens away. One of the chickens managed to get past Morgana and decided that the boom pole was a great perch!! It was very hard not to laugh after that. Every time I caught Linda’s eye we both started laughing, then so did Malcolm and Nick and if I turned my head to the right I would see Morgana and the chickens and start giggling again. It was great fun.
We had some great laughs and lots of bloopers, like when my vanity case got stuck in the wardrobe, and the chickens walking along the boom, where we just broke down into fits of giggles, but hopefully they are safely tucked away from public view!!!!
Have a great day,
Deborah
