The Daily Telegraph reporter, Bryony Gordon, arrived at our house last Thursday. She managed to fit me in her busy schedule between the Brit Awards and her trip to Australia to report on the launch of Sir Richard Banson’s Virgin Australia. (more…)

I thought you might like to meet our new Bunny.
His name is……..well, we don’t know yet, so any suggestions will be gratefully received……and he belongs to my little brother.
He is a Dwarf Lop, and now he’s part of our little smallholding he can enjoy running around his run and being played with in the house. I hope you like him as much as we do.
Have a great day,
Deborah
Fireproof – The Movie
Friday, February 6th, 2009The movie, “Fireproof,” is just out on DVD in the UK. Here is what the back cover says.
“At work, inside burning buildings, Capt. Caleb Holt lives by the old fire-fighter’s adage: Never leave you partner behind. At home, in the cooling embers of his marriage, he lives by his own rules. His job is to rescue others. Now Caleb Holt is ready to face his toughest job ever…rescuing his wife’s heart.”
Fireproof was a really good film. Even though it was made by a group of volunteer Christians it is very professionally filmed with a good script, and enough tension and emotion to hold your attention.
The best bit for me was watching the making of, special feature. It was amazing to see these Christians kneeling in prayer daily, and committing their work to the Lord, before they did any filming. None of the actors were their for their own fame or promotion, but were there to share the gospel and save marriages across the world.
I highly recommend you taking a look, and letting your friends know about it too. If you want to watch it as a group in your church you can buy a copy that gives you licence to use and there are Bible study material and books you can get to accompany it.
Thousands of marriages have already been saved. Find out more, read some testimonies or watch the trailer here.
To buy a copy of the DVD from Amazon you can click here.
Hope you enjoy watching the movie,
Deborah
Whiter Than Snow
Thursday, February 5th, 2009
February 2009 and we have snow! They say it is the most snow the UK has had for 18 years which means it’s the first real snow I’ve seen.
Snow is Fun.
Today we all went into the garden, lit a camp fire to warm up on, then made big snowballs that we rolled around the garden to collect more snow. We then cut them up into bricks to make an igloo. When we get snow in the UK we have to play quickly and have as much fun as we can before it melts into a muddy mush.
Snow is Beautiful.
Only God could make something so beautiful. How amazing that when water freezes it turns white and covers our land with a fresh clean look. The white sheep, that looked so clean against the green hills, now look so dirty against the snow. We look so clean when compared to a murderer or robber, yet compared to God’s standards we are dirty. The Bible talks about our sin as being as red as scarlet, yet God will make us as white as snow if we repent of our sin and ask him to forgive us. (…though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow… Isaiah 1 v 18) (more…)
My Summer Filming
Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009Most of my Summer 2008 was spent filming with Special Edition Films, or tidying up the house ready to film. It was great fun and was a really amazing experience. For a one hour Documentary they took around 100 hours of film.
Meet The Crew
Linda, the Director, was very patient with me and has a really cute dog. Nick, the soundman, was great fun and easy to get on with; Malcolm, the cameraman, was funny and took some really great shots; and Morgana, the assistant director, was really lovely, became a good friend, and was brilliant at her job.
Long Days
The days were long and very tiring. Some days they would all arrive before we were even up and others they wouldn’t leave until after I was in bed. They followed me around and Linda sometimes asked some difficult questions that weren’t easy to answer. The human mind is an incredible organ. It starts working before you are born and never stops…………until there is a film camera pointing at you!!! :P (more…)
Be Your Best
Tuesday, January 27th, 2009
When we leave full-time education and are looking to get into the work force there may not be so many jobs to apply to as our parents had.
If there are only a few places with many applicants for each job YOU have to be the BEST if you want to be the one they choose! So how can we prepare for our future?
Take Life Seriously – Today!
It is very easy to think that we have time to mess around now, and take life seriously later. If we want to be sure of a good job in the future we have to start building character, knowledge and wisdom now.
If you were interviewing someone for a job who would you employ? Someone who dresses smart, speaks well, is happy, passed their exams, and has positive character, or would you employ someone with a bad attitude, who has failed their exams, and who obviously doesn’t care about what they look or sound like?
Study Hard
By the time you reach about 12 you will probably have some ideas about what you enjoy doing, what you hate, what you are gifted at, and what you cannot do. Choose subjects to study that will benefit your future. Then study hard.
If your school doesn’t provide the courses you want then find other ways to get what you want. There are many distance learning courses you could do at home, or evening classes you could take on in the evenings once you reach 14. (more…)
Developing Your Character With Physical Exercise
Friday, January 23rd, 2009
Outdoor activities are great for developing good personal characteristics such as, determination, confidence , stepping out of your comfort zone, creating a positive attitude, risk taking, and how to work in a team.
It is also good for your health and fitness, and is great fun.
Doing exercises daily is very important to maintain general health and fitness. Then, when you have to do something more strenuous you should enjoy it more and hopefully you won’t collapse and die of exhaustion! :P (more…)
Fun on the Farm
Monday, January 19th, 2009A sunny Saturday morning.
Something that I love doing is mucking out the goats on a clear and sunny day with that lovely smell of goat manure :P
Mark (my younger brother) was pretending to be a tractor as we piled the old hay and straw into the wheelbarrow.
As we worked, the sun shone warmly on our faces. It was such a lovely morning.
It is such a privilege to be able to help Mum out with the goats. I can do it whenever I want.
I’ve heard that some schools pay hundreds of pounds to send students out on special trips where they can play with the animals and muck them out. I have all this in my garden and enjoy the responsibility and character skills I can learn.
Pushing the wheelbarrow up the hill, to the compost heap is not as easy as it looks.
By the summer we should have some lovely compost for our vegetable garden, but we find the weeds generally benefit from it more than the vegetables!! ;)
Each morning and evening we milk the mummy goat, Daisy, and collect the eggs from our 17 hens.
Some days Kirsty brings her rabbit into her bedroom to have a run around and I usually have one of our cats sleeping on my bed at night.
There is something very special about having animals around, and the joys of life that they bring.
Animals are great friends to have.
I love to surround myself in God’s creation.
Welcome
Friday, January 16th, 2009Hello and welcome to my new blog.
My name is Deborah Drapper. I’m 13. I live in a big, old farm house right out in the middle of nowhere with my Dad and Mum, 6 of my 7 brothers, and 2 of my 3 sisters.
We are all home educated and I love it. It doest only mean that I can sit at my desk in my room that looks out over the hills and do my school work, but I get to set my own goals, spend a lot of time with my family, help teach my younger brothers, and can take my holidays when it’s sunny.
I have started this blog to help strengthen your faith in God’s word, to encourage young people, to challenge atheists/evolutionist, and to spread the gospel.
I look forward to sharing part of my life with you and if you have any questions or comments please feel free to ask.
Have a great day.
Deborah
