Today is the day I start out on my trip to America! Tonight I journey over to my grandparents home where I stay the night ready for an early start up to the airport in the morning.

As a result of the Documentary “Deborah 13: Servant of God” I have been invited out to meet with some of the people who have most influenced my Christian life. The first week I meet with Ray Comfort and the ‘Way of the Master’ team, and even get to join him on the streets doing outreach. Then I fly over to Florida to meet with Eric Hovind from Creation Science Evangelism ministry and then Rick Wiles of TruNews.

If you want to keep up with our trip you can see what we’re up to on Bible-matters twitter. Look down the left hand side of the Bible-Matters page and follow our tweets.

Thank you to everyone who has made this trip possible and I’ll try and write again after I get home.

Have a great day,

At the end of August Dad, Kirsty and I have been invited out to the United States of America. Our passports have now arrived and I am really looking forward to meeting lots of people who have taught me so much over the years.

The first week will be spent with some very good friends then Dad and I go to meet Ray Comfort and the Way of the Master evangelism team while Kirsty continues with our friends. Ray Comfort will let you know more about what we will be doing as you listen to a short clip from a recent radio interview below….

The second week we all fly from Los Angeles, on the West coast, across to Florida, on the East coast, and share a few days fellowshipping with Eric Hovind from Creation Science Evangelism ministry. I am really looking forward to being able to ask him lots of questions about creation and evolution and visit their creation museum/Dinosaur Adventure-land.

From here we fly again down to West Palm Beach where we meet Rick Wiles from TruNews Radio and may be his son who has been researching Noah’s Ark. On the Saturday Rick will be showing us his new 1000 seater mission tent.

We set off from America on the Sunday evening and arrive back in Great Britain at lunch time on Monday!!

It will be such an amazing opportunity and privilege to meet so many Godly people who are excited about God and the Bible.

So many of you have invited us to pop in and stop off at your houses. Thank you, but unfortunately there just wouldn’t be time on this trip. If anyone happens to be in Los Angeles, Pensacola, or West Palm Beach when we are then please contact me and it would be great to meet up and chat if we can fit it in.

Have a great day,

1. Can you please tell us something about yourself?

My name is Deborah Joy Drapper. I love my name. Deborah Joy means ‘ joyful bee’ and I consider myself to be a happy, hard working, sweet girl, but with a sting in my tail!!

I was born in Essex, the 4th child in a family of 11 children. I have 3 sisters and 7 brothers ranging from 22yrs to 2yrs old. Seven years ago we moved down to Dorset where we live in a farmhouse, over a mile away from the nearest bus stop. We have several pets including 2 goats and 17 hens, so have our own milk and eggs, and I love to get out into the fresh air and help out.

I love pink and my room is full of pink things from my quilt cover and rug, to my fluffy pink pen and note book. I even have a pink tool bag full of pink screwdrivers and hammers!!!

I am home educated and my parents give me every opportunity to reach my full potential. I enjoy science, speech, and maths best, but also study a whole range of subjects including British Sign Language, agriculture, food hygiene, and lots more. I love it! I get up in the morning and can ‘go to school’ in my slippers!! I can wonder off into the fields, or run, or play in the trees to let off steam, but I can sit quietly at my desk in my own bedroom and study, research, and read.

Each year the Local Education Authority have to come round and ‘inspect’ our work. This is a section of the inspectors report last year,

“I feel it is worth emphasising how innovative, imaginative and successful Mr & Mrs Drapper are in their thoughts and planning to create a highly stimulating Christian learning environment. The atmosphere is one where their children can progress well, maintain their natural curiosity, willingness to learn and care for one another… Their ideas for topics and projects is quite remarkable.”

For two years in a row we have made it to the regional finals of the school’s ‘Make Your Mark Challenge’. Not bad considering we were supposed to be a team of 16 year olds and our youngest team member was 8!! That year we came second in the whole South West!!

I am as happy dressed up in my smart jacket and blouse as I am in my army boots crawling through the muddy stream we call ‘The Amazon,’ and each summer Joel, Kirsty and myself pack up our rucksacks and march off into the hills where we camp for a few days, cooking over an open fire, sleeping rough, and just ‘hang out’. I go to the local St John Ambulance Cadets where I learn First Aid and I have helped out at several public events.

My mum and dad are my mentors, my supporters, and my friends. We chat for hours, and get excited together, about plans and ideas, and if any one of us needs help we all share together the problems and find solutions. I think I have learned my strength of character from my dad and my love and passion from my mum.

My sister Kirsty, who wants to be a hair stylist and beautician, spends hours styling my hair and we have a great laugh dressing up. Then I have loads of email friends around the globe and I would happily chat to, and I get on with anyone whether a 90 year old or a 9 month old.

Most importantly I am a Bible believing Christian, which in the UK now-a-days is quite a rare thing.

Have a great day,

Deborah Drapper

The documentary that went out yesterday about my life as a young, evangelistic Christian resulted in loads of emails, and comments.

One thing that was not shown well on the documentary, and many people have asked me about, is actually how to be saved.

The focus of the film was on sin, and that we’re all sinners, and all heading to hell. What it didn’t show at all was that God sent his son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for OUR sins so that we don’t have to go to hell.

People often ask me what it is like to be home educated so I thought I would let you have a peek into my ’school’ day to see what I do.

I have never been to school as a student. When I was little my big sister helped my mum to teach me to read and write using the ACE Curriculum. This is a Christian based curriculum and not only teaches the subjects, but teaches character, and Biblical principles, as well as how to set goals and how to research and study for myself. Now, some days, I help my mum teach my little brothers!!

I spend my mornings sitting at my desk at my bedroom window that looks out over the fields. I work on my academic subjects there, both written and on the computer.

My favourite subject is science. I am studying Physical Science, Bible and Science, and Creation Science. I am also studying English and Maths and preparing to take the Adult Literacy and Numeracy tests when I am 14. Other subjects I do are Collectivism, Etymology, Speech, West African Agriculture, and Successful Living. Last year I studied Child Development and British Sign Language and hope to start a more in-depth course in sign language soon.

Then in the afternoons I can enjoy more practical things. Like cooking, reading, swimming, gardening, exercising, learning bushcraft skills, and of course write things for my blog.

A great part of my school year is taking part in the Make Your Mark Challenge. With 3 of my siblings we form our own team and have competed twice, both times reaching the regional finals.

I love being home educated. I can set my own goals, study subjects that suit my aptitude and ability, but best of all I can enjoy being with my family.

If you want any more information about home education then please feel free to contact me.

She managed to fit me in her busy schedule between the Brit Awards and her trip to Australia to report on the launch of Sir Richard Banson’s Virgin Australia.

Paul spent over an hour taking photos and then I chatted with Bryony. We had a great time with sandwiches, mum’s amazing pizza snails, and chocolate fairy cakes that Kirsty and I made earlier in the day.

The BBC were so good and sent Karen from the press office down to make sure that I was OK with all the questions.

So make sure you don’t miss buying your copy of the Daily Telegraph on the 10th March to read what Bryony has to say about me.
