I know you might be confused – “What? Deborah is giving out Charles Darwin’s ‘Origin of Species’! Are you kidding me?”

Well, I think it is only fair to give both sides of an argument. Ray Comfort, of Living Waters, has taken Charles Darwin’s original book and added a 50 page special introduction. This includes the History of evolution, Timelines of Darwin’s life, Intelligent Design vs. Evolution, as well as a clear gospel message. You can hear more about the Special Edition here.

If you want to buy some to donate to your library or local school then you can buy them here.

You can see how God blessed us in Oxford below.

Many Christians have said to me that they like to believe in evolution and the Bible. They say that God used evolution to “create” the world.

I would like to ask these Christians a few questions.

The Biblical account of Creation in Genesis seems very specific with six days of creative activity, each having an evening and a morning. Also the Biblical account of creation has the order all wrong according to the evolutionary view. Do you think that God should have inspired an account more in keeping with evolution, the truth as you see it, if He did use evolution to create everything? Why do you think God had an account recorded that was not accurate to the evolution view?

The Bible says that Adam was created from “the dust of the ground” and when he died he would ” return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.” If you believe that the dust Adam was created from represents an ape from which he evolved, did he turn back into an ape when he died?

According to the evolutionist’s understanding, the fossil record shows death, disease and bloodshed before people. Doesn’t that mean that if you believe that evolution is the way God used to create the earth then you cannot believe the Bible when it says in Romans 5 :12, “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” and in Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death”? If death and suffering didn’t arise from Adam’s sin and the resulting curse then how can Jesus’ suffering and physical death pay the penalty for sin and give us eternal life, as the Bible clearly says in 1 Corinthians 15:21 and 22, “For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.”

If the Genesis account of Creation, The Fall, the origin of Nations, the Flood, and the Tower of Babel – the first 11 chapters – are not historical, although they are written as historical narrative and understood by Jesus to be so, what other parts of the Bible do you disregard? What herminutical principle do you use to determine what is myth and what is historical narrative?

If God created an evolutionary world, so that it is getting better and more perfect over a long time period, why should God want to destroy it and create, “new heavens and a new earth” (2Peter 3:13, Rev 21:1)

As I understand it, Darwin formulated the evolution theory to eliminate God from the realm of biological origins. Isn’t it a bit strange to try and put God (Theism) with evolution (naturalism)? If God created using the mode invented to make Him unnecessary, how can God’s “eternal power and Godhead” be “Clearly seen” in creation as Romans 1:20 says?

In Genesis 1:31 God describes His just-finished creation as “very good”. How do you understand the goodness of God if He used evolution, ‘death, destruction and survival of the fittest’ to create everything?

As I understand it, there is no purpose, no direction and no goal in evolution. The God of the Bible is all about purpose. How do you reconcile the purposelessness of evolution with the purposes of God? What does God have to do in an evolutionary world? Is not God an unnecessary hypothesis?

If you read the Genesis account of Creation, without an evolutionary mind-set, what do you actually discover about the way God created the universe? Doesn’t God warn about adding to scripture? If you cannot come up with evolution as the means of creation without outside, extra teaching, shouldn’t you be very careful?

Why do we use the word ‘Universe’? Doesn’t it mean ’single – Uni, spoken sentence – verse’? “And God said ‘Let there be…’”

Have a great day,

I love science. Science is such an awesome and interesting subject.

What is Science?

Science means ‘to know’. The dictionary definitions tend to focus on systematic classification and careful collection of data: Things that can be observed, tested, and demonstrated.

Why are there lies in our text books?

So why is there so much that isn’t science being taught in our school’s science lesson? Why are there so many lies in our text books? And why are there still displays in our national museums that teach these lies as facts?

‘Lucy’

Last June I took a trip to the National History Museum in London.

As you can see the original bones of ‘Lucy’ are on display for all to see. What they forget to tell you though, in the little explanation underneath, is that there is much controversy over whether ‘Lucy’ is the ‘missing link’ between humans and apes or whether she is just simply another chimpanzee.

Donald Johanson used some very bold and imaginative language concerning his find and was very confident in his claims that ‘Lucy’ walked upright.

Perhaps these claims were a bit premature. More data has since been discovered which conflicts with Johanson’s hypothesis. Now Johanson has two choices. He either has to discard his earlier hypothesis and admit that ‘Lucy’ never walked up right, or he has to find a plausible explanation for the observations that conflict his hypothesis.

To add to his problems ‘Lucy’ is not even made up from one skeleton, but is several different finds pieced together. In fact, I believe the knee bone was found one year earlier, one and a half miles away, and in a completely different layer of strata, from where the rest of her was found. A real scientist would not put that knee bone with that skeleton. A real scientist would be brave enough to admit that ‘Lucy’, as she is, is not scientific. There is no evidence that she is a ‘missing link’ or an ancestor of humans.

Are you being lied to?

If you have Advanced Biology by Michael Roberts, Michael Reiss, and Grace Monger, then you have been lied to. Check out page 772 and see a lovely picture of Lucy! How many more lies are they telling you as facts? I can spot at least TEN!

If you would like to receive a free DVD called “Lies in the Text Books” which exposes the lies, and gives you the real science, then please contact me with your address and I will send one to you free of charge.

This question came to my dad as a comment on my blog. He decided to write an article so that others may also benefit from the answer. I hope you enjoy this guest post from Andrew Drapper, my dad.

The commenter said:
“There is one Bible story in particular that I find difficult to accept as an actual event which in turn sheds doubt in general with regard to accepting the Bible as a literal record. Noah’s ark. Even with today’s technology I’m relatively sure it would be difficult, if not impossible, to build a vessel capable of housing two of each living thing on earth. Additionally there is the matter of food and water and keeping prey animals separate from their prey. The sheer size and logistics are a bit mind boggling.”

So, how was it done and is it possible?
Let us first have a look and see what the Bible says.

“And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth. 14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. 15 And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits. 16 A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.” Genesis 6:13-16 (KJV)

So what was the Ark to be like?
Length 300 cubits, Breadth 50 cubits, Height 30 cubits, with 3 floors, rooms, one window and one door. Pitched or waterproofed inside and out.

A cubit is the measurement from the elbow to the end of your fingers. The standard cubit is 18 inches, though there is some evidence for a very much bigger measurement for the cubit that is used. But lets work to the 18 inch cubit.

Length 300 cubits = 450 feet or 137.16 M
Breadth 50 cubits = 75 feet or 22.86 M
Height 30 cubits = 45 feet or 13.71 M
450 x 75 = 33,750 square feet per deck with 3 decks.
33,750 x 3 = 101,250 square feet of flooring that is 9,406.464 square meters of flooring.
633, 20ft shipping containers (TEU, Twenty-foot equivalent unit) in floor space. That is something like 316 modern articulated lorries.

On November 26, 1955 the purpose-built container ship Clifford J. Rodgers, only carried 600 containers between North Vancouver, British Columbia and Skagway, Alaska. Just about the same size as the Ark in cargo. The first purpose-built container ship in the United States was the Ideal-X, a T2 tanker, owned by Malcom McLean, which carried just 58 metal containers between Newark, New Jersey and Houston, Texas on its first voyage, in April 1956. Today we build ships that carry over 9,000 TEU
So the Ark was big. Not by today’s supper ships, but compared to the normal pictures you see of Noah’s Ark.

So could two of every animal and seven of a few fit in?
What does the Bible say?

“Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.” Genesis 6:20 (KJV)

Only two of every kind, (kind probably being like dog kind not two of every breed). And they would come to Noah, he would not have to find them. If they are supernaturally coming to Noah, it is also possible that they would not fight and many may hibernate.

What we need to know is, ‘How many animals are we talking about?’, ‘What size are they?’ etc.
It is estimated that there are about 16,000 “kinds.” of animal. (there are 400-something dog breeds but they all belong to one species (Canis familiaris), in the same way many species can belong to one kind.) Looking at mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles, the leading systematic biologist, Ernst Mayr, gives the number as 17,600. Allowing for two of each species on the ark, plus seven of the few so-called “clean” kinds of animals, plus a reasonable increment for known extinct species, it is probable that not more than say, 50,000 animals would have needed to be on the ark.

Most of these animals would have been smaller than a sheep. Remember that even the largest dinosaurs were relatively small when babies or only a few years old. Scholars agree that there was plenty of room for all of the animals on the ark, plus food and water with room to spare.

How long would it take to build?
When talking about Noah having had to build this boat in 6 months or even 6 years, it appears that Noah was given 120 years to get this huge operation together: ship, food, water, animals etc.

“And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.” Genesis 6:3 (KJV)

Sound like a long time? Noah lived to 950 years old.

So what is the message of the Ark for us today?

The flood really happened. God judged the world for it’s sinfulness. Today the flood is a reminder for us of God’s judgement.

Mankind had rejected God and was living a life of sin. The flood, and the remains of it that we can see today in the rocks, is a reminder to us of the fact that God does and will judge sin.

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” Galatians 6:7

The Ark was provided by the grace of God.

“But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.” Genesis 6:8 (KJV)

Before the flood came God provided Noah a way in which he could escape. Not because Noah was perfect, but because of God’s grace. God does not change. He is still a righteous judge. He must judge sin, yet He is still merciful and “takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked.” (Ezekiel 33:11) Through His grace He has provided us a way to escape before judgement comes.

“God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

The ark had only one door.

“…and set the door of the ark in its side.” – Genesis 6:16

There were two groups of people during the time of the flood – those inside the Ark, before the flood arrived, and those who were outside.

Today there are two groups of people – those in Jesus, forgiven by his death and those who are outside. Those outside, do not think of themselves as outside, they are the ‘normal’ ones. Until the judgement comes! Only then do they see that they are outside. Jesus is the only way to get from the outside to the inside.

“I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved… ” (John 10:9)

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

There is much more that could be said:

God invited them in, and God was there with them: “And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark…” Genesis 7:1 (KJV)

They were secure inside the Ark “… and the LORD shut him in.” Genesis 7:16, once God shut the door it was shut and no one else could enter.

Jesus is coming back soon and it will be just like it was when the flood hit.

“37 But as the days of Noe, [Noah], were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” Matthew 24:37-39

So as you look at the fossil record, with it’s billions of dead things, buried in rock layers, laid down by water, all over the Earth, think about the flood and God’s judgement past and coming.

To find out how to be in God’s grace and escape His future judgement you might like to look at ‘Finding God’s Way’.

With over 1,200 scholarly references to academic studies. Woodmorappe claims that after years of systematically examining all of the questions which have been raised over the years, “all of the arguments against the Ark are… found wanting. In fact, the vast majority of the anti-Ark arguments, at first superficially plausible, turn out to be easily invalidated.”

Today in my school work I was studying the contrast between the evolution and the creation models and what predictions could be made concerning the fossil record.

Within the fossil record the creation model would predict to find:

Sudden appearance in great variety of highly complex forms

Sudden appearance of each created type with characteristics complete

Sharp boundaries separating major taxonomic groups

No transitional forms between higher categories

Within the fossil record the evolution model would predict to find:

Gradual change of simple forms into more and more complex forms

Transitional series linking all categories

No systematic gaps

Scientifically speaking, the model which can best explain and correlate the data is the better model. As I look at the fossils I find along the ‘Jurassic Coast’, and as I look through museums and text books, what I see supports the creation model better than the evolution model. If evolution were the better model then surely the museums should be full of the transitional fossils. After 150 years of intense searching a large number of obvious transitional forms would have been found if the predictions of the evolution model were valid.

Fossil Record

What I see are “millions of dead things buried in rock layers, laid down by water all over the earth”. (Ken Ham) The fossils are a massive grave yard of highly complex forms of life, with no transitional forms, that were laid down very quickly (possibly by a world wide flood). I see fossilised remains of plants, dinosaurs, horses, dogs, elephants, monkeys, apes, and man fully developed with all the characteristics that define that particular kind.

I also see trees standing up through coal seams. I see big fish in the middle of eating little fish. I see mammoths with fresh food still in their mouths. Those animals were buried very quickly.

The Emperors New Suit

Many of you have said in your comments that I believe in a fairytale, ie the Bible. The more I study evolution though, the more it reminds me of Hans Christian Anderson’s story of the “Emperors New Suit”.

Everyone was tricked by the merchants that the Emperors clothes were real. In fact you had to be wise to see them and no one wanted to admit that they were not wise. It took a little child to shout out the truth “The Emperor has nothing on at all!”

To ’see’ evolution you have to be ‘wise’. In fact you have to be a ’scientist’ to really understand. You don’t need to be a scientist to see that there is nothing there. But how embarrassing it would be for the universities and ’scientists’ who have invested years of their life and millions of tax payers money if a little child were to shout out. Evolution is naked: There is nothing there at all!!

Exodus 20v11

“For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day:”

It has been very interesting reading all your emails and comments about evolution and creation.

Before we start to discuss evolution and creation, it would be helpful if we first define what we are talking about.

Evolution can be broken down into six kinds of evolution.

Cosmic evolution- the origin of time, space and matter. Big Bang.

Chemical evolution- the origin of higher elements from hydrogen.

Stellar and planetary evolution- Origin of stars and planets.

Organic evolution- Origin of life from inanimate matter.

Macro-evolution- Origin of major kinds.

Micro-evolution – Variations within kinds.

None of the first five have been observed. Only the sixth one (Micro-evolution), has been observed. The first five have to be believed. They are believed, by faith, even though there is no empirical evidence to prove them in any way. I admire the great faith of the evolutionists who accept the first five.

Both Demand Belief

As Dr. Duane Gish says in “Evolution: the fossils still say No!” I believe that Creation and Evolution are both in the same category. Neither can be experimentally tested, neither is falsifiable, neither is a scientific theory, neither is or was observable, both are postulates and models which may be used to explain the evidence. The question to be answered is simply, which model does the better job of explaining the evidence? To which I believe that the creation model has a higher statistical probability of being correct.

Louis Bounoure, director of France’s Strasbourg Zoological Museum and professor of biology at the University of Strasbourg, stated: “Evolution is a fairy tale for grown-ups. This theory has helped nothing in the progress of science. It is useless”

In children’s fairy tales we are told:

Frog + magic spell (usually a kiss) = Prince

In modern science text books we are told:

Frog + Time (usually millions of years) = Prince

There are many more scientists who are neither Christians nor creationists who are beginning to realise that the evolution theory is in big trouble. For example Michael Denton (Evolution: A theory in Crisis) and Soren Lovtrup (Darwinism: The Refutation of a Myth).

So which ever side of the fence you stand on you have to come to both creation and evolution as a belief system rather than as a science. The difference is that I believe “In the beginning …God” and the evolutionist believes “In the beginning…dirt.”

Evolution: A fairy Tale For Grownups is a book containing 101 questions to shake believers’ blind faith in the theory of evolution. Read evidences from leading evolutionists and scientists as they reviel the baseless and unscientific nature of the theory of evolution.

“Next time somebody tells you that something is true, why not say to them: ‘What kind of evidence is there for that?’ And if they can’t give you a good answer, I hope you’ll think very carefully before you believe a word they say.” – RICHARD DAWKINS

Have a great day,

Thank you to many, many, many of you who have written to me about evolution/creation, the Big Bang and other science questions. I thought it would be a lot easier if I wrote several posts to try and clear up some queries.

First, I LOVE science. I do study evolution as well as creation and I have read many text books, both written from the evolutionist’s and creationist’s position. I have studied Biology, Geology, Palaeontology, Astronomy, Evolution and Creation, and recently started Physics and Chemistry. I have attended many lectures and regularly watch debates on the internet.

So I am not just ‘brainwashed’, as many of you think, but look at the data myself, listen to scientists and form my own conclusions. I have been to the London Museums and seen ‘Lucy’ and many other displays for myself and look forward to reading “On the Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life.”

Scientific Method

Many of you have said that I don’t understand the Scientific Method. I think that I do. Please tell me if I am wrong. My understanding of the Scientific Method is:

State the problem.

Research the problem (research, observation, experimentation).

Formulate a hypothesis.

Test the hypothesis (experimentation).

Formulate a theory (general principle).

Communicate the results.

After the accumulation of sufficient information or data a scientist may make a generalization which is called a Hypothesis. If more observations confirm his hypothesis then this becomes a Theory. If this theory is unchallenged and consistently supports the facts it will then, after much time has passed, become a scientific Law.

If, however, any observation (even though seemingly trivial) conflicts with his hypothesis, the scientist is left with two major alternative: 1. He has to discard his hypothesis and search for another, or 2. He has to attempt to find a plausible explanation for what he observed in accord to his hypothesis.

More coming soon……..
